Here is my first knitted scarf--evur. I'm super excited for it as it will be huge, obnoxious, and of the "infinity" style. The yarn is TRES cute; grey with creme, tan, and black speckles. I'm absolutely in love with the yarn, but sadly 1 ball will not be enough...I will perhaps need 3 more. I'm excited that I have finally got to put my knitting skills to use. It has almost been a month since I've learned how! I shall post the finished project hopefully within a week ^____^ !
This is the logo I created on adobe illustrator for my FASH433 (Product Development and Management) group. We are working with Destination Maternity in their product development segment for their Indian market. "Zindagi" means "Life" in Urdu--which is more than fitting for a Maternity brand. I was inspired by Indian's fascination with hand embroidery and organic objects of nature--the sun, flowers, butterflies etc. We will be posting our inspirations, explorations, and creations on our TUMBLR blog! Check it out (:
Sometimes you just need to get away. Sometimes you just need a good friend to take you away. This weekend one of my best friends Rochelle took me through Pennsylvania on a scenic car drive to where she works. It was beautiful and made me realize how much I have been ignoring nature. I got to gaze at the beautiful open landscape and even take some pictures of some really cute animals. I suggest you click "read more" to see more of our little adventure (:
Photo shoot by Ange Davies--a Senior Visual Communications major, my roommate, and owner of an obnoxiously large authentic London feathered boa. When I first entered her room in the summer I saw some of her photography hanging on her walls and was completely in awe. Some were of past projects and others of her travels. She is able to capture each moment with such grace that you feel like you are apart of the story each shot tells. I am so very lucky that I got to be apart of one of her shoots..thanks Ange! Click "Read More" to see more. And check out more of Ange's work (:
In my Art243 (Intro to Printmaking) class we're starting with linoleum blocks. We were put in groups of 4, showed one another our drawings, and created a central theme. Then, we were to take this theme and each create a linoleum block of whatever it is we felt best reflected it. I chose to utilize Native American ideals of being one with nature to portray my group's theme--"Organic". I'm aware that a lot of the shapes are geometric--I didn't realize how hard it was to carve rounded edges in linoleum (this took me about 10hours in total!!!). I'm hoping my professor will see that the organic theme lies more within the message of this piece. Below the dream catcher I carved "Mitakuye Oyasin" which means "All are related" in Lakota. In summary, Native Americans= everything is in a relationship with everything= nature= organic. Hmph, makes sense to me. Now all I have to do is print! I'm hoping it will turn out alright...
Stefani is seen here advertising "Supreme" an NYC based skate apparel store. I don't know much about the brand at all, besides that they know how to make Lady Gaga look like hell. Personally, if I were a hardcore skater...I wouldn't back this advertising ploy--it's kind of weird (sorry! personal opinion!)
This was playing a couple days ago at the Bob. It def made me enjoy my 30min. cardio on the NEW ellipticals (it even has a fan settings low, medium, high). This song is kinda old, but I can still dig it. I also probably like it because it references "Like a g6" multiple times ^_____^ *cough*onlylikeoneofmyfavoritestsongsever*cough*

|It doesn't interest me what you do for a living|
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for your dreams
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life's betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your
fingers and toes
without cautioning us to
to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me
I want to know if you can
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand on the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
It doesn't interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after a night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the center of the fire
and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.
